HOLTON CREEK RISE

While it is connected to the Floridan Aquifer, Holton Creek Rise is also a resurgence of the Alapaha River. Most of its waters come from swallets in the Dead River Sink, where the Alapaha River disappears. Holton Creek Rise serves as an overflow for the Alapaha River, and when river levels are low or high, the spring flow fluctuates. This is a popular spot for fishing and hiking.

Holton Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is located in south central Hamilton County.
