STEINHATCHEE RIVER RISE

The Steinhatchee River flows 35 miles from swamps in Lafayette County, through Taylor and Dixie, until it reaches the Gulf of Mexico. At the southern portion of the SRWMD Steinhatchee Springs Wildlife Management Area, the river goes underground and reemerges about a half mile south, forming Steinhatchee River Rise. This is also a popular spot for hunting, off-road cycling, and hunting.
