SUWANACOOCHEE SPRING

A small, nearly forgotten spring, Suwanacoochee Spring is located at the convergence of the Withlacoochee and Suwannee Rivers near Suwannee State Park. It is believed the spring and its springhouse ruins were once part of the town of Ellaville, a bustling timber town in the late 1800s. Little remains of Ellaville today, but the spring remains as a look back at a town that helped North Florida’s growth.

Suwanacoochee Spring is located on the SRWMD’s Ellaville tract.

LOCATION:

Traveling from Madison, travel east on US 90; the entrance is on the right before crossing the Suwannee River. Visitors will have to follow the trail west to the spring.
